TIPA DIET :
Object is to COOL the system (and Thicken

FOODS TO REMEDY TIPA
SWEET, BITTER, ASTRINGENT and COOL

Yoghurt, buttermilk, butter, cheese, milk, ice-cream. 
Lentils and beans, sprouts.  Sunflower seeds. Barley porridge.
Oranges, grapefruit, grapes, apples, strawberries, peaches, tomato, watermelon, pineapple, mangoes, oranges, pears, plums, raisins.
Carrots, celery, lettuce, cabbage, peas, potatoes, corn, sprouts, green salad, sunflower seeds, asparagus, mushrooms, spinach. Green salad.
Game meat, goats meat, pork, beef, chicken, sugar, honey, beer.

White rice, brown rice, rye bread, wheat bread. 

Sugar is COOLING, but NOT A GOOD FOOD, use in moderation. 
Softening agent - spinach and other foods grown in an environment having a strong element of Earth 

INHERENT QUALITIES TO PACIFY TIPA:

Coolness   - Cauliflower, cabbage, pork 
Heaviness - potato, corn, wheat 
Softening  - Spinach 

Secondary Qualities:
Coldness - foods grown in a windy environment 
Coolness - oranges, vegetables in general, uncooked and SALADS 
Thickness

2 categories of food -
Animals/eggs - Heavy, Earth
Plants             - Light, Water

BEVERAGES FOR TIPA

Peppermint tea
Dandelion tea
Nettle tea

Cooling fruit and herbal teas, such as strawberry and raspberry - not containing cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg or other heating spices.
Unboiled milk - either plain or in milkshakes, cold cowís milk is cooling and light.
Boiled plain water - refrigerated or ice-cold water is not advised for Tipa as it will raise Lung. 
Red wine said to be good for high blood pressure.

FOODS TO AGGRAVATE TIPA

SOUR, SALTY, HOT
Salty and Oily foods. (OIL OVERWHELMS Tipa - is most PROBLEMATIC for Tipa - careful with melted cheese which is very oily, oily fish etc.). Hot and spicy foods. Sour foods (sour is heating).Coffee and strong tea. Not too much eggs.
REMEMBER THAT MEAT IS ACID-FORMING and therefore harmful for Tipa which is acid-based and too much meat-eating will exacerbate.  Problems with  stomach ulcers.

Spicy foods, peanut butter, sour fruits, bananas, papaya,  tomatoes, garlic, coconut, aubergine, mushrooms, onions. 
ALL NUTS AND SEEDS, sesame and mustard oils, salty fish, anchovies, fish, black pepper, salt, soy sauce,  eggs and alcohol. 

Cooked nettles stimulate DIGESTIVE HEAT,  aggravate Badkhen and Tipa, but alleviate Lung. 
Cooked radish promotes the digestive heat, therefore bad for Tipa

Tibetan dietary advice considers the following food combinations unwholesome:
Fish and milk,  fish and eggs, meat and milk, yoghurt and beef, yoghourt and chicken, yoghurt and pea soup, sour fruits and milk, 
Milk and animal (fish and/or meat) together in one meal cause digestive upsets ó different parts of the stomach must process the different substances which leading to indigestion and ëheartburní.

DIET AND DIGESTIVE HEAT (Me Drod)  Dr. Tenzin 
Five groups - grains, meats, oils, veges, liquids :

Grains RICE, WHEAT, BARLEY etc. -  SWEET in taste and post-digestive taste, suppresses Lung and alleviates Tipa. 
RICE - natural potency is oily, smooth, cool and light, helps to balance 3 humours, stops vomiting and diarrhea. (no good for Badkhen)
WHEAT -  heavy and cool, suppresses lung and tipa and gives body strength. 
BARLEY - heavy and cool, very energising.
LENTILS AND BEANS - Astringent and Sweet, cool and light and recommended for Badkhen, fever and diarrhea, blood and Tipa disorders.  Paste for a fat person. 

MEATS: 
Goat - heavy, cold - alleviates imbalance of all 3 humours.  Cures syphilis, smallpox and ulcers caused by burns. 
Beef- cooling and unctuous - cures fevers ass. with Lung. 
Pork - cooling and light. Cures ulcers and diseases associated with Badkhen 'smug-po'.
Yak meat is unctuous and hot - cures cold and aggravates blood and Tipa. 
Chicken  helps in production of semen and treats ulcers (chicken is LIGHT- but WARMER than other meats)) 
Fish alleviates stomach disorders and stimulates appetite. 
Fresh meat is cool
Preserved meat stimulates powers of digestion. 
Meat roasted over a fire is heavy and difficult to digest. 
Dried and cooked meat is light and easy to digest. 

FATS: All types of fat are SWEET - but OILY and HEAVY- not so good for TIPA 
Fresh butter - COOLING,  healthy complexion, strength and cures fever caused by TIPA. 

VEG.OILS - Habitual use of vegetable oil - internal heat and digestion stimulated; tissues nourished, sense organs made stronger. 

VEGETABLES: 
Dandelion  grows in dry places and is BITTER and cures HOT disorders. 
Aromatic herbs grown in DRY places are COLD  and HEAVY in property. 
Matured radish is HEAVY, COOLING and increases Badkhen. 
Spinach is softening. 
Turnip cures poisoning. 
All fresh GREENS cleanse and tone the BLOOD which is related to the fire energy (TIPA) of the HEART. 

Cooked Foods: 
Thin gruel of rice and water cures morbid thirst, drowsiness and aggravation of the humours. Keeps DIGESTIVE HEAT and tissue elements in state of equilibrium. Produces HEAT and cleanses the opening of the channels of circulation. 
Gruel of Moderate density stimulates DIGESTIVE HEAT, cures excessive hunger, debility and drowsiness - removes constipation. 
Thick gruel stops diarrhea, alleviates thirst. 
Tsampa is COOLING, promotes strength and is HEAVY, (raw?)
whilst cooked barley (tsampa) is light and easy to digest. 

CURDS -  SOUR in taste and post-dig taste - COOLING and unctuous.  Cure dry stools and fever caused by Lung and promote appetite. MILK AND YOGHURT are good for diarrhea - TIPA gets diarrhea. most, 
BADKHEN does not, nor LUNG 
Buttermilk is ASTRINGENT AND SOUR - cures SPLEENIC disorders and piles, stimulates digestion 
WHEY causes diarrhea - therefore good for Lung which tends to constipation. 
Milk  and milk products of sheep and female yak are HOT AND REJUVENATING, those of cow, COOLING AND LIGHT. 

DRINKS: 
Cow's milk is SWEET in taste and post-dig. taste. good for 7 B.C.'s. also COOLING and LIGHT. 
Alleviates Lung and aggravates Badkhen. - COOLING and HEAVY . 
Unboiled milk is HEAVY and COLD. 
Cow's milk helps chronic fever and obstinate urinary disorders like DIABETES 

WATER - 
Boiled water is best - stimulates power of digestion, helps in digestion of food - after the meal one glass. 
Boiled cold water alleviates TIPA but SHOULD NOT BE KEPT FOR MORE THAN 24 hrs (becomes like a poison, aggravates all 3 humours). 
2 lites boiled water per day - 1 glass 4 times a day 
Refrigerated or ice-cold water is not advised for Tipa as it will raise Lung. 

ONLY FRESH WHOLE FOODS CONTAIN THE VITAL ENERGIES OF NATURE ON WHICH HUMAN HEALTH DEPENDS - THIS IS WHY MODERN DIETS DEPRIVED OF ALL THEIR LIVING ENERGIES THROUGH FACTORY PROCESSING AND ARTIFICIAL ADDITIVES FAIL TO DELIVER THE SORT OF ESSENTIAL ENERGIES THE HUMAN BODY NEEDS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY
